6 Instagrammable Places in Boston That Your Followers Will Love

I’ve been living in Boston for almost three years for college and have lived in several locations in this great historical city since then. During these last few years, I’ve come across so many fun locations that make the PERFECT spot for any Instagram photoshoot.

Below are some of my favorite locations to take pictures at, which include my own photos! I tried to avoid more “touristy” locations like Fenway, Faneuil Hall and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and instead focus on hidden gems that many may not know about.

Boston Harbor Shipyard & Marina (East Boston)

The Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina is located in Jeffries Point, East Boston. I’ve been here many times and the views of the Boston skyline are so gorgeous. Located in the marina, are colorful murals, a cider house, an Australian eatery and the seasonal ICA Watershed museum. It’s such a beautiful, but hidden location. Take the MBTA blue line to Maverick and it’s a solid 15 minute walk to the marina.

Madonna Shrine (East Boston)

I live down the street from the decadent and massive Madonna Queen of the Universe Shrine in Orient Heights, East Boston and had no idea it was there until I moved into my apartment. It’s a true hidden gem. The shrine looks over the hillside with breathtaking views of the Boston harbor, the skyline and the airport. There is also a gift shop and chapel on sight. Take the MBTA blue line to Orient Heights and it's about a 10 minute walk uphill to the shrine.

Jonquils Cafe and Bakery (Back Bay)

This elegant cafe is located on the luxurious Newbury Street and has the most gorgeous pastries that look like they belong in a museum. They are also known for their floral teas that blossom while you sip. The inside is also well lit and decorated for your Instagram photoshoot. Make sure to take pictures before you eat your dessert!

Boston Seaport

The Boston Seaport is a rising district in Boston with trendy shops and eateries– also the home of my local Trader Joe’s. The Seaport also has so many quirky public art displays scattered around the area. Currently they have 2D and 3D characters placed around the district, pop up retail shops and a new interactive art exhibit that is open until March 14. My personal favorite is the “Boston Is The New Boston” mural located at One Seaport Courtyard. Every time I venture into the seaport, there is something new to admire!

Hard Rock Cafe garage (Downtown Boston)

The Hard Rock Cafe garage is my new favorite spot in Downtown Boston to take IG-worthy photos. Park in the garage (can be expensive) or take the elevator all the way to the top to get awe-inspiring views of Boston. I took pictures here by myself and there was no one else up there! This location is very unknown even though it’s located right next to Faneuil Hall and near the North End. Parking garage photoshoots are becoming very trendy online and this is the perfect spot to do it! P.S. the sky is in fact edited in the pic above.

Marshall Street (Government Center)

Marshall Street is a cobblestone alleyway in Government Center, right across the street from the North End. This street is also home to historic bars and the Union Oyster House. Bring your phone or camera to snap some pictures on this quaint street.
